Nepal is a beautiful Himalayan landlocked country located between China and India. It is spread in the area of 147181 Sq. Km. On the basis of the geographical structure, Nepal has been divided mainly into three regions: the Himalayan region, the Hill region and the Terai region. They have different features.
The Himalayan region lies on the north of our country and it border china in the north. There are high mountains like Mt. Everest and many others. They are always covered with snow throughout the year. From them big rivers like Gandaki, Koshi, Karnali etc. begin. Life is difficult there and the weather is very cold there. Sherpa people are the distinct ethnic groups in this region. This region covers 16% of the total land area of Nepal.
The Hilly region lies between the Himalayan and the Terai regions. The land there is ups- downs and life is also challenging. There are some valleys like Kathmandu, Pokhara, Surkhet and lakes as Phewa, Rupa, and Begnas etc. It covers about 68 % of the land of our country. There are different kinds of forests, wild lives, birds and herbs. Mostly Gurung, Magar, Newar, Brahmin and Chhetri populate this region. It is famous for conservation area as well.
The Terai region is not very big but it is smooth life is very easy there. There are a lot of facilities. The weather is very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter. The Himalayan region is very cold mostly and mild temperature is finding in Hilly region. It borders India in the south. It is the barn house (granary; storage place) of our county. People grow a lot of grain there and support the People of other regions for food. These three geographical regions are expanded from east to west.
