My city
Nepalgunj is a Sub-Metropolitan City in Banke District, Nepal. It lies on the Terai plains. The city is densely populated. Moreover, many people are emigrating here from other parts of the country. By the result, the density of population is increasing swiftly every year. Hinduism and Islam are two major religions in the city. Unity in diversity is sincerely practised in this city.
The city where I live has been changed a lot. The old buildings have been pulled down and very new modern buildings have been made. There used to be few transport vehicles in the city but there are thousands of vehicles running in the city now. The road used to be small and only double lane but it has been changed in several lanes. The changes have brought about both good and bad sides of the development. All old shops and factories have been changed. The shops have been changed into the departmental stores. There used to be only one cinema halls for entertainment but now there are many with modernized. It has been developed a lot. The important change is the streams and the rivers, all the rivers and streams have been polluted and clean water can be seen nowhere.
Nepalgunj has several boarding and government-run schools. Mahendra Multiple Campus is the largest public higher-level institution in the district, and is affiliated to Tribhuvan University. Nepalgunj has a sub-tropical climate. Temperatures sometimes exceed 40° C in hot season, and in winter too cold. Winter is usually unpleasant while the sun is out for weeks. The weather is not much favorable to the human being.
Most of the people live in modern buildings and enjoy various types of modern facilities. As most of the people are well-educated, they are employed in various jobs belonging to different sectors. All the basic facilities people have been enjoying like road transportation, electricity and so on for ages. But due to over population, urbanization and industrialization, the city is getting polluted day by day.
It is our responsibility to make the city preferable to live for the human being and other creatures as well. Reforestation should be increased in this city to minimize the high temperature and increased pollution.
