Muna- Madan

Muna- Madan is a short epic written by Laxmi Prasad Devkota. The epic describes an imaginary event happened in the Nepalese society. But in this epic the writer has portrayed the real picture of the contemporary society, in which people used to go abroad to earn money to live a better and happier life in the future.

Madan, a married Nepali man, goes to Lhasa to earn money, leaving his dear family and his wife. He gets sick there and comes back home. In the way, his friends leave him alone without treat him. When he reaches home, he finds his dear wife, Muna, has already died. This event makes him heartbroken. He wails for her death. He curses God for Muna's death. However, he must tolerate the tragic moment. The epic shows how true love there was between Muna and Madan, and how happily they want to live. But cruel fate separated Muna from Madan forever.

The writer conveys a moral that human life can end at any time. Fate plays an important role in human life. People expect something but cruel fate gives them another thing. The writer also means to say that money, physical comforts are momentary things they can't give eternal happiness to human beings but love and satisfactions are greatest things in human life. So, we should be happy with anything we have rather than search for fantasy.
