Grammar
We
use question tags at the end of the statement when we want someone to confirm
what we already know, when we’re looking for the other person’s agreement or we
want to involve them in conversation. We often use tag questions to make
conversations friendlier.
You’re
Indian, aren’t you?
Structures:
1.
If the statement is Positive then tag is negative & if the statement is
negative then the tag is positive.
He
is a chemist, isn’t he?
She
can’t jump high, can she?
2.
If there is “everybody everyone someone somebody noone nobody these those Ram
and Shyam dogs” in the sentence then we use “they” as the subject in the tag.
Someone
does it, don’t they?
Somebody
is there, aren’t they?
3.
If there is “something anything nothing this that water milk gerund dog…” in
the subject in the sentence then we use “it” as the subject in the tag.
Everything
is all right, isn’t it?
4.
If the sentence start with “Let & Verb” then we use “will you” in the tag.
Come
tomorrow, will you?
Let
me go out, will you?
5.
If the sentence starts with “Let’s” then we use “shall we” in the tag.
Let’s
go for a walk, shall we?
6.
If there is no auxiliary verb in the sentence then we take help from the main
verb to make the tag.
