Theme: It is written on the psychological point of view. Problems and difficulties make a man strong, mature and practical. Courage is the most powerful weapon in time of difficulties.
Summary
In
the essay, the essayist has tried to interpret the story 'Hansel and Gretel'
from psychological point of view. In his opinion, the story conveys an
important but unpleasant truth. Poverty and scarcity has made them more selfish
and less sensitive. Second, the story also deals the child psychology. The
story reveals the minds of the children and their worry of being abandoned. The
children are success to return home, but are sent in the jungle again. It shows
that return to earlier situation and denial to present situation does not solve
any problem.
Third,
the story shows the desire for food in such a way that they do not care about others.
Mother doesn't care child's life and children do not care the gingerbread
house. That was for shelter to somebody. And witch doesn't care children's
right to live. Fourth, when witch plans to kill them after capturing, they feel
the importance of freedom and arise the wish to live according to their own
will. That's why, they kill the witch.
Birds play important role to create problem eating breadcrumbs, lead a danger place to gingerbread house but at last get them to cross the river as well. At the end of the story the children become matured. After overcoming their worries and problems then only they live happily.
